Whittier Union Field Tournament, Senior Night, and Bandtober Continues

Read all the way through! There is some repeat info, and some new info. The 2 week calendar at a glance is at the bottom from now on!

It is a super busy part of the year, but the kids are doing great. As we are entering the home stretch, make sure you are here! Attendance is so important. Every day, we are cleaning, refining, and making our show as great as it can be. Whenever you miss rehearsal, you are slowing down that process. We’re almost there.

Parents, thank you for all you are doing for your kids! I know that driving back and forth, making sure they have everything, keeping the schedule straight, and volunteering is a lot right now. It makes such a difference! I would encourage you to participate in the fun part of band. Come hang out and volunteer, join us for Brew Crew and meet some new people, go to the games and comps and cheer as loud as you can for 10 minutes. The more you engage, the more fun you will have, and the more your students will feel supported. Thank you!

SENIOR NIGHT AND FOOTBALL GAME

Here is the call sheet for the game.

Call time for all students will be 5:00pm at Gahr.

Students need to remember to bring their uniform with them after school, along with their instrument, flip folder, and anything else they might need to perform pep tunes and our show.

We will NOT be unloading after the game. We will unload before rehearsal on Saturday.

🙋 NON-SENIOR FAMILIES — WE NEED YOU NEXT FRIDAY!

🎓 SENIOR NIGHT — Friday, October 23 before the football game!
This is a special evening for our Senior class students and their families as they celebrate this milestone together. As our parents walk the field with their students and hear each student's accomplishments announced, we want them to be able to enjoy every moment without worrying about volunteer duties.

📣 NON-SENIOR FAMILIES, IT’S OUR TURN TO STEP UP! Let’s give our Senior parent volunteers a well-deserved break by covering their volunteer responsibilities for the evening.

🙌 Please sign up TODAY! Let’s show our senior families some love and make this night special for them. We’re one Regiment, one family, and we support each other! 🖤💛

HYDRATION EXPECTATIONS

All student need to make sure that they are taking hydration seriously! Band is a physical activity, and the students are getting PE credit for it. Two things that will help keep your kids safe, healthy, and successful are hydrating early and often, and coming to rehearsals and competitions with a one gallon jug of water.

Start drinking water the day before we have a rehearsal or event. If you are feeling thirsty, you are already dehydrated! Drink lots of water the night before, and continue drinking as the rehearsal or event goes on.

Students also MUST have adequate water. I have been seeing more and more small bottles. While these may be more convenient to carry around, they are NOT sufficient sources of water. Your student should have a one gallon jug of water with them whenever they are at band.

The boosters will continue to have refill stations for the kids when it is particularly hot, but students need to come prepared!

We are also shifting how we get kids water at competitions. Students should now bring their one gallon jug with them through our warm up routine on show days. This will minimize lines, provide faster, easier access to water throughout the warm up process, and streamline hydration as we prepare for shows.

If you need a jug, here is a cheap option that you can get for $13.

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT

ALL parent/adult volunteers must complete and submit the waiver form, along with a copy of your government-issued ID, to the school office before you volunteer for anything!

🏫 This is a school requirement. ⚠️ No waiver = No volunteering.

The form states there are fingerprinting and TB testing requirements. For now, these items may be disregarded; they will be addressed later if/when necessary.

Thank you for your understanding and for taking care of this important requirement as soon as possible!

GRAB A FLIP FOLDER

If you still need a flip folder, grab one now so you have it for the next 2 football games.

Amazon Flip Folder

You may also need to buy a lyre for your specific instrument. The lyre holds the flip folder on your instrument. Most local music stores should have them, or you can search for them on Amazon. I also saw some bulk packs for cheap if you want to go in with some friends on a pack of lyres.

KEEP THOSE DONATIONS COMING!

3% Cover the Fee

Set it and forget it. Commit to paying an amount monthly to meet your donation amount for the year. Program: $800 Winter Guard: $900 Winter Drumline: $900 Jazz Band/Wind Ensemble: $100

RATIONS FOR THE REGIMENT

We are launching a new fundraiser right now. We are calling it Rations for the Regiment, and we are trying to raise money to provide food for the kids throughout the fall season.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

As we move further into the season, preparation and consistency become increasingly important.

Come prepared. Students should have their instrument, music, equipment, water, and appropriate rehearsal clothing every day.

Be present and engaged. Learning drill requires everyone to be in the right place at the right time. When someone is missing, it affects more than just that student.

Take care of yourself. Especially on our Saturday rehearsals, students need to stay hydrated, eat enough, get enough sleep, and come prepared for a full day outside.

Stay on top of schoolwork. Marching band is a significant commitment, but students are still responsible for their classes. Please make sure students are communicating with teachers and keeping up with their work.

ATHLETIC CLEARANCE: PAST DUE

All students participating in the music program need a new Athletic Clearance on file with the school for the 2026–27 school year.

If your student has not completed this yet, it is past due and MUST be done now. The school may take up to 5 school days to process a complete clearance, so this is not something to wait on.

Full Athletic Clearance Instructions

There is also a mandatory annual transportation fee (you should get the one with the ASB card… it is cheaper and you get more out of it):

  • $175 — includes ASB card

  • $225 — transportation only

Questions about the clearance process can be directed to Ana Herrarte, Athletic Secretary at ana.herrarte@abcusd.us. Questions for the Athletic Director can be directed to Todd Denhart at todd.denhart@abcusd.us.

26–27 ROG REGISTRATION PAPERWORK

Please make sure the following forms are completed for your student:

Getting these completed early helps us keep student information, emergency contacts, uniforms, and volunteer coordination organized throughout the season.

REHEARSAL ABSENCE FORM

Any time a student is going to miss a rehearsal, they need to complete the absence form. Students should submit the form as soon as they know they are going to miss something, rather than waiting until the day of rehearsal whenever possible.

Submit a Rehearsal Absence Request

This gives us a consistent way to track absences and helps us plan rehearsals appropriately.
