CONGRATS ON A GREAT SHOW THIS WEEK!
Congratulations on a great show last weekend! It’s so fun to see the show taking shape. The Regiment of Gold brought home the Gold, winning:
🥇 High Auxiliary - Division 6 Open
🥁 High Percussion - Division 6 Open
👑 First Place - Division 6 Open
🏆 Open Class High General Effect
🎶 Open Class High Music
👑 Open Class Tournament Champion (Overall score: 79.9)
Keep up the good work! Don’t let your foot off the gas. The season is still young, and we can make this show really amazing.
Also, THANK YOU to all of the volunteers this past weekend. We cannot make these shows happen without you!
HYDRATION EXPECTATIONS
All student need to make sure that they are taking hydration seriously! Band is a physical activity, and the students are getting PE credit for it. Two things that will help keep your kids safe, healthy, and successful are hydrating early and often, and coming to rehearsals and competitions with a one gallon jug of water.
Start drinking water the day before we have a rehearsal or event. If you are feeling thirsty, you are already dehydrated! Drink lots of water the night before, and continue drinking as the rehearsal or event goes on.
Students also MUST have adequate water. I have been seeing more and more small bottles. While these may be more convenient to carry around, they are NOT sufficient sources of water. Your student should have a one gallon jug of water with them whenever they are at band.
The boosters will continue to have refill stations for the kids when it is particularly hot, but students need to come prepared!
We are also shifting how we get kids water at competitions. Students should now bring their one gallon jug with them through our warm up routine on show days. This will minimize lines, provide faster, easier access to water throughout the warm up process, and streamline hydration as we prepare for shows.
If you need a jug, here is a cheap option that you can get for $13.
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT
ALL parent/adult volunteers must complete and submit the waiver form, along with a copy of your government-issued ID, to the school office before you volunteer for anything!
🏫 This is a school requirement. ⚠️ No waiver = No volunteering.
The form states there are fingerprinting and TB testing requirements. For now, these items may be disregarded; they will be addressed later if/when necessary.
Thank you for your understanding and for taking care of this important requirement as soon as possible!
Click here to download the form.
PICTURE DAY- FRIDAY 10/16
This Friday is Picture Day! Please expect to pick up your students later than normal. We will try to get to everyone as soon as possible, but it takes time, and there are a lot of kids.
If your student is planning on taking Buddy Pictures, fill out this form. You will also need to send them with $5 for each buddy picture they intend on taking.
🙋 We need your help! Please sign up to volunteer for Picture Day on Friday.
FAN-PLEDGE FUNDRAISER
We are doing great with this! As I am writing this, we have raised over $38,000! Keep up the great work. You can share or donate from this link: https://www.fpfans.com/730c12
It isn’t too late to donate! The fundraiser stays open until October 19. Keep those donations rolling in. Let’s see if we can break $40,000.
There will still be prizes for our top earning student and section. Let’s make one last push!

MCTEACHER’S 10/21
Next Wednesday after rehearsal, go grab dinner at McDonald’s. And tell all your friends! All purchases made at the McDonald’s on Orangethorpe on Wednesday, October 21 from 4:00-8:00pm will earn money for our program!
SENIOR NIGHT ANNOUNCER NEEDED
Our Band Senior Night will be at the Football Game on 10/23. We are looking for someone who can announce our seniors and their families. You would be reading their names, who is walking with them, what they plan on doing after they graduate, and a short message to the band.
No experience needed, and if two people want to work together, that works too! Please email vp.ensembles@cerritosrog.com and vp.operations@cerritosrog.com if you are willing to announce!
BAND BREW CREW
☕ COFFEE, CONNECTION & ROG PRIDE! 💛🖤
Free coffee, complimentary pastries, and great company! Band Brew Crew brings our ROG families together on competition mornings to connect, recharge, and cheer on our students. Because we're more than a band—we're a family! 🎶
TRUNK OR TREAT 10/28
Save the date- Wednesday, October 28 👻🎃
Get ready for some family fun! 🍬🕷️
This event is a great way to meet other families, hang out with your students, and just have a great time celebrating our hardworking ROG. Trunks can be simple. The idea is to gather and celebrate together. The trunk or treat will begin at the end of practice.

GRAB A FLIP FOLDER
If you still need a flip folder, grab one now so you have it for the next 2 football games.
You may also need to buy a lyre for your specific instrument. The lyre holds the flip folder on your instrument. Most local music stores should have them, or you can search for them on Amazon. I also saw some bulk packs for cheap if you want to go in with some friends on a pack of lyres.
KEEP THOSE DONATIONS COMING!
RATIONS FOR THE REGIMENT
We are launching a new fundraiser right now. We are calling it Rations for the Regiment, and we are trying to raise money to provide food for the kids throughout the fall season.
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS
As we move further into the season, preparation and consistency become increasingly important.
Come prepared. Students should have their instrument, music, equipment, water, and appropriate rehearsal clothing every day.
Be present and engaged. Learning drill requires everyone to be in the right place at the right time. When someone is missing, it affects more than just that student.
Take care of yourself. Especially on our Saturday rehearsals, students need to stay hydrated, eat enough, get enough sleep, and come prepared for a full day outside.
Stay on top of schoolwork. Marching band is a significant commitment, but students are still responsible for their classes. Please make sure students are communicating with teachers and keeping up with their work.
ATHLETIC CLEARANCE: PAST DUE
All students participating in the music program need a new Athletic Clearance on file with the school for the 2026–27 school year.
If your student has not completed this yet, it is past due and MUST be done now. The school may take up to 5 school days to process a complete clearance, so this is not something to wait on.
Full Athletic Clearance Instructions
There is also a mandatory annual transportation fee (you should get the one with the ASB card… it is cheaper and you get more out of it):
$175 — includes ASB card
$225 — transportation only
Questions about the clearance process can be directed to Ana Herrarte, Athletic Secretary at ana.herrarte@abcusd.us. Questions for the Athletic Director can be directed to Todd Denhart at todd.denhart@abcusd.us.
26–27 ROG REGISTRATION PAPERWORK
Please make sure the following forms are completed for your student:
Getting these completed early helps us keep student information, emergency contacts, uniforms, and volunteer coordination organized throughout the season.
REHEARSAL ABSENCE FORM
Any time a student is going to miss a rehearsal, they need to complete the absence form. Students should submit the form as soon as they know they are going to miss something, rather than waiting until the day of rehearsal whenever possible.
Submit a Rehearsal Absence Request
This gives us a consistent way to track absences and helps us plan rehearsals appropriately.
