Upcoming Events, Hawaii Registration, Donations, and Rations for the Regiment
Hi ROG Families!
These next few weeks are pretty busy! Make sure you are checking the calendar and Band App regularly to stay up to date on what is going on.
Take a deep breath this weekend, and enjoy a Monday off before everything starts up. Next week we have Back to School Night, a Booster Meeting, and a football game. The next week, there is a jazz band performance, and a Thursday football game. There is also one last Saturday rehearsal before we start going to Marching Band shows.
Please help your kids keep track of their homework and other obligations. Also, it is really important that kids are eating healthy food and drinking lots of water. I’ve noticed a big uptick in illness the last week or so. Stuff is starting to go around, so take care of yourselves. And get lots of sleep! Students, no staying awake until 2am scrolling!
Grab a Flip Folder!
At the last football game, I noticed that many students don’t have flip folders right now! Flip folders hold all of our pep songs, school songs, etc. that we use at assemblies, rallies, and football games. I found a budget one on Amazon for only $10. Please invest in one. It will last you your entire high school carrer.
You may also need to buy a lyre for your specific instrument. The lyre holds the flip folder on your instrument. Most local music stores should have them, or you can search for them on Amazon. I also saw some bulk packs for cheap if you want to go in with some friends on a pack of lyres.
In case you missed it, last week’s email on finances…
Good afternoon ROG Families,
I want to take a moment to speak honestly about the financial needs of our program as we head into the heart of our fall season.
The students have been working incredibly hard, and there is a lot of work happening behind the scenes to give them the experience they deserve. From our instructional staff and equipment to meals, transportation, competition costs, uniforms, props, music, and countless other expenses, the Regiment of Gold depends heavily on the support of our families.
The suggested Fair Share contribution for the fall is $800 per student. We understand that this is a significant contribution, and we never want finances to prevent a student from participating. However, we also need to be transparent: we need to see a significant uptick in donations very soon.
We are currently reaching a point in the season where our financial decisions directly affect what we are able to provide for students. If donations do not increase, we will eventually have to begin making adjustments to program expenses. This could affect areas such as coaching, props, and other resources that directly support the student experience and our show.
We are asking every family who is able to please take a moment to check on their current contribution and submit their remaining fall donation as soon as possible. The full suggested contribution for the fall is $800, but every contribution helps move us closer to where we need to be.
Donations can be made online through the ROG store.
If your family is experiencing financial hardship or needs to discuss payment options, please reach out privately to our boosters at treasurer@cerritosrog.com. We want to work with families and make sure students can continue to have the opportunities that this program provides.
Thank you to the families who have already contributed and continue to support the program. Your support makes a real difference, and we are very grateful for it. Right now, we need the whole ROG community to step up so that we can continue providing the level of support, instruction, and opportunities that our students deserve.
Thank you for supporting the Cerritos High School Regiment of Gold.

This is our last Saturday rehearsal before our first show. We plan to fine tune everything we will be performing, add some last minute projects that we can refine over the next week, and make sure we are prepared for a great show!
Again, this should be treated like a full band camp day. Please plan accordingly and make sure students come prepared to work for the entire day.

Rations for the Regiment
We are launching a new fundraiser right now. We are calling it Rations for the Regiment, and we are trying to raise money to provide food for the kids throughout the fall season.
Student Expectations
As we move further into the season, preparation and consistency become increasingly important.
Come prepared. Students should have their instrument, music, equipment, water, and appropriate rehearsal clothing every day.
Be present and engaged. Learning drill requires everyone to be in the right place at the right time. When someone is missing, it affects more than just that student.
Take care of yourself. Especially on our Saturday rehearsals, students need to stay hydrated, eat enough, get enough sleep, and come prepared for a full day outside.
Stay on top of schoolwork. Marching band is a significant commitment, but students are still responsible for their classes. Please make sure students are communicating with teachers and keeping up with their work.
Athletic Clearance — Please Take Care of This Now
All students participating in the music program need a new Athletic Clearance on file with the school for the 2026–27 school year.
If your student has not completed this yet, please start the process now. The school may take up to 5 school days to process a complete clearance, so this is not something to wait on.
Full Athletic Clearance Instructions
The basics:
Clearance is completed online through HomeCampus.com.
A new clearance and physical are required each school year.
Physicals for 2026–27 must be dated on or after April 1, 2026.
You will need to upload the physician-signed/stamped physical and medical history questionnaire.
The clearance is not complete until it has been reviewed and approved by the school.
There is also a mandatory annual transportation fee:
$175 — includes ASB card
$225 — transportation only
Questions about the clearance process can be directed to Ana Herrarte, Athletic Secretary at ana.herrarte@abcusd.us. Questions for the Athletic Director can be directed to Todd Denhart at todd.denhart@abcusd.us.
If you haven't started your clearance yet, please do it this week.
2026–27 ROG Registration Paperwork
Please make sure the following forms are completed for your student:
Getting these completed early helps us keep student information, emergency contacts, uniforms, and volunteer coordination organized throughout the season.
New: Rehearsal Absence Form
We are introducing a new absence reporting process this year.
Any time a student is going to miss a rehearsal, they need to complete the absence form. Students should submit the form as soon as they know they are going to miss something, rather than waiting until the day of rehearsal whenever possible.
Submit a Rehearsal Absence Request
This gives us a consistent way to track absences and helps us plan rehearsals appropriately.
